Chapter 17 - Search

Razorwing's Viewpoint

Psystar flew into the sky. I watched until buildings obscured my view. I found it interesting that her hair only blew back slightly in the wind. Her speed certainly would be nice to have, although this morning proved that the coverage provided by my wings could be a crowd saver.

I looked back at Rayna; she had her phone out and she was sending the text.

I said, "To your place to get the dragon and instruct the Bs?"

"Yup, one sec. Okay, message is out. We'll see if anyone has any ideas for searching."

My phone beeped as it received her text.

I said, "Ready now?"

"Yup, take me anytime."

I opened my mouth, closed it and raised an eyebrow. She grinned mischievously. I shook my head slightly as I pulled her against me, leaped up and flapped down hard to gain altitude.

During the flight, she asked, "So we get to bring your gifts to your place?"

"Sure. What'd you make for me?"

"Not gonna say. You'll have to see 'em."

"Okay. But I'm going to like them?"

"You better, or I'll have the medusa I made turn you to stone."

"You made a medusa?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Yeah, I think I would. Are you gathering statues in your back yard?"

"No, that would be pretty mean."

We joked around some more on the way, and within ten minutes, I landed us outside her "hidden" garage. She walked over and entered the code to open the large door. Once open, the gold dragon inside stared at us.

She said, "Let's head inside. I want to get the Bs out first."

The dragon stared at me and said, "Greetings."

"Hello. I'm Razorwing."

"I am Volruth."

"I'm glad you've got a name now."

"As am I."

Rayna hugged his snout and kissed him on the nose before walking to the back of the garage. I followed Rayna through the small tunnel to her house. My wings scraped against the tunnel ceiling here and there, as I walked.

We entered into her basement a herd of plushies on the couch watched us. We passed by them, but I looked back most of the time to verify that their heads were indeed turning. Rayna slowed down at the stairs, and I bumped into her. I grabbed her arms to make sure she didn't fly forward due to my strength.

She looked back and me with an eyebrow raised. "Staring at something that distracted you?"

"Yes. The plushies on the couch moved. I was watching them."

"Oh. Never mind then."

I released her arms and motioned forward. She walked up the stairs and called out. "Boys! I need my Bs!"

We reached the living room, and the three spherical eyed creatures floated toward us. Duff flew upside-down. A fantasy computer game was being played on one of two large-screen TVs in the room. It paused for a moment and Kar's small draconic head popped up over the back of the couch.

He called out, "Hail, winged knight."

"Hello, Kar."

I pulled out my personal phone and said, "Rayna, see if you or Duff have ever seen this guy. Hold on, let me pull up the picture.
